Emus Broadcasting Company

Definitely the better of the two Emu shows - EBC1 was a mock up of a TV company, that produced spoof TV shows. Featured amongst other things, Billy Daintys 'Keep Fit' spot, and constant interruptions by the tea lady.

Tragically, Rod Hull died in 1999, falling from the roof of his house while trying to adjust a TV ariel.

Emu's World

Based in the Pink Windmill, Rod & Emu are joined by hundreds of stage school brats, who would start singing at the drop of a hat. A simple knock on the door would result in totally unnecessary chorus of ... 'There's somebody at the door ! There's somebody at the door ! There's somebody at the door ! There's somebody at the door ! ' ... you get the idea ! The Windmill would be attacked by Grotbags the Witch and her 'Croc' - no doubt there to kidnapp the kids, but sadly they were always foiled.

That's all folks!

Deputy Dawg

Mississippi lawman Deputy Dawg spent most of his time chasing Musky the Muskrat, Vince (Vincent van Gopher) and Ty Coon the Raccoon. Most of the crimes were misdemeanour at worst - usually stealin' water melons. Why you cotton-pickin .... !!!

Cheggers plays Pop

Keith Chegwin first made his mark in the Multicoloured Swapshop - a Saturday morning show, long before Superstore, presented by Noel Edmunds and featuring John Craven (Newsround presenter) and Maggie Philbin. In his own show - Cheggers plays Pop, he presented a game featuring kids in red and yellow teams, who had to answer questions on pop music and negotiate inflatable assault courses.

You have *got* to give the man some credit! How many people would have had the nerve to do this?

Moschops

Do you remember "Mosschops"? I do! It was all about some dinosaurs called Mrs.Kerry-the triceratops, Ally-The allosaurus, Mosschops - the herbiferous quadrupedal sauropod, (posssibly brachiosaurus) Mr Ichthyosaurs - an ichthyosaurs, Uncle Rex - the Tyrannosaurus Rex and Grandfather. They all had a small friend called "Flower" who was the first worldly flower and she (maybe He) sang with the voice of a piccolo. It was narrated by Bernard Cribbins

Incredible Hulk

It seems there has been three different animated versions of the Hulk from the 60s, the 80s and the 90s. These screen captures are from the 80s version, but for me, the definitive version was always the TV series, which ironically strays the furthest from the original comic strip.

Tripods

The Tripod Trilogy was written in the 1960s by John Christopher. In 1984 the BBC produced a television series of the first two parts of the trilogy. The series tell the story of alien 'Masters', who travel the earth in giant 3-legged metal spaceships (Tripods), enslaving the human race by 'capping' them. Will Parker escapes the 'capping' and joins up with other freedom-fighters in an attempt to overthrow the Masters.

Godzila

Up from the depths, 30 stories high - breathing fire - his head in the sky .... a Monster ! Godzilla ! and Godzucki .... Godzucki was to Godzilla what Scrappy (Dappy) Doo was to Scooby Doo - a pathetic irritation introduced to widen the appeal to 'the kids'
