Unlike the book though, it wasn't told from the point of view of the horse!

Vicky Gordon
daughter of Doctor Gordon, sister of Kevinand Jenny. Found Black Beauty went away to boarding school after the first series to be replaced by Jenny. Played by Judi "Clash of the Titans" Bowker
Jenny Gordon
Older sister to Vicky, came back from boarding school and continued the adventures. More feisty than Vicky! Played by Stacey Dorning.
Doctor Gordon
Bearded Doctor Gordon brought his family (see other characters) from London to live in the countryside hoping for a peaceful life, however he seemed more stressed than ever with all the weekly adventures his children that got involved with (along with the horse). There appeared to be no background on Mrs Gordon other than she died, how, why and when is unexplained.
Black Beauty
"Beauty" as the horse was known as. First introduced to the viewer as the property of a horse dealer who was breaking in horses by riding them to exhaustion, Beauty ran away and was discovered by Vicky whilst out walking, Dr Gordon then saved the life of the horse dealer's father and was then rewarded by being given the horse.
He could go and collect Dr Gordon on his own and fend off nasty villians all on his own !
Horse also appeared in Lloyds Bank's TV ads.

Brother to Vicky & Jenny.
Albert
Friend of the family, known to be cheeky got heavily involved in most action.
Ned
Amy the House Keepers nephew, Parents had died, got into bad company in London then ran away to join the fun in the country.
Amy
House Keeper. Kept general law and order among the children. No husband.
