Scooby Dooby Doo - Where Are You? went the familiar cry of his best friend Shaggy. Scooby and Shaggy were the cowardly pair of a teenage gang who solved ghostly mysteries in their Mystery Machine. Scooby appeared in many different shows, often joined by other Hanna Barbera characters in another show - Scooby's All Star Laugh-O-Lympics. Scooby was later cursed by the addition of an ill-fated character - Scrappy 'Dappy' Doo - possibly the worst cartoon character of all time.

Sealab was a high-tech underwater laboratory that housed over 250 men, women, and children. The oceanographers, led by Dr. Paul Williams, were on a mission to protect both their lab and the ocean from harm. Assisting Paul were his crew of oceanauts: Hal, Gail, Ed, and radio dispatcher Sparks. Also on board the Sealab were Captain Mike Murphy and his children, Bobby and Sally, all of whom were rescued by Sealab when their boat sank. The cute pet quotient was filled by Murphy's pet sea turtles and a dolphin named Tuffy.

As far as I recall, it was Belgian, & was narrated by Kenneth Robinson..... The planet in question was inhabited by 2 species, The Shadoks (the spiky ones), & The Gibli (intellgent round pacifists). The Shadoks were belligerant, but very stupid (One episode posed the question as to what was the highest number a Shadok could count to... The Answer was 4). The series ended with the Gibli leaving the planet, in a DIY Starship, as the planet was about to destroy itself... The Shadoks stay behind, as they ignore the Gibli's warning, & die with the planet....

Snagglepuss, the sartorially elegant lion, was created by Hanna Barbera in 1959. In his early career, this witty feline was a bit-part player in other characters' shows, notably Quick Draw McGraw. He first met his arch-enemy, Major Minor the hunter, in 1960. Major Minor played a somewhat less silly Elmer Fudd to Snagglepuss's Bugs Bunny.

This program featured Frank Spencer (ably played by Michael Crawford), who can NEVER get anything right - he is even told by his psychologist that he is a Failure, a fact he is apparently rather proud of!! Comforted after each disaster by Betty (Michelle Dotrice), Frank creates chaos & mayhem.

Whose side would you be on, a big, black, hairy spider’s or a defenceless - yeah right defenceless - little boys? Spider, managed to gain his young audience’s sympathy throughout this 13 part series, first shown in 1991. Spider just wanted to be left to live in peace, the child was having none of it though, well at first anyway, they do eventually become friends! Songs, sang by Jeff Stevenson, with his own children’s voices on backing vocals, expressed Spider’s thoughts and fears on each of the 5 minute episodes.

In the early 1980s a puppetry show arrived on TV screens in the UK which was markedly different from anything that had gone before. For a start, it wasn't made by Gerry Anderson. It had a rock and roll soundtrack, an ongoing plot, and characters dying left right and centre. Queen's Brian May was so impressed by it he covered the theme tune.

Stepping Stones was shown late 1970's. It was a wonderful little show specifically aimed at the preschool youngsters, shown at lunchtimes on a weekday. Originally hosted by Paul Copley and Diana Davies.

6 x 30 min episodes set in Glasgow. Stookie was a one off drama series about a troubled teenager who took his nickname from always seeming to have an arm in plastercast (in 'stookie'). Writer: Allan Prior
Stopit & Tidyup (Animation)  (UK) 
Stoppit and Tidyup was a strange little program. Each episode 5 minutes long, narrated by who else but Terry Wogan! It could be said that it was perhaps trying to be educational, with character names like WashYourFace, EatYourGreens, and cute little HurryUp, who all lived in the land of DoAsYourTold. Each episode was centered around a certain character, but every one featured the sensible TidyUp and the troublesome Stoppit. Watch out for those Naughties - they give you NaughtyPox!

Summerton Mill is a charming 26 x 5-minute stop-frame animated children’s series with the appeal of a timeless classic. Set in a pretty valley where the grass is always green, and the sky is always blue, Summerton Mill is a magical place where unexpected and wonderful things can happen. The series was commissioned by the BBC in 2004 and was first broadcast in September 2005 as an insert in Tikkabilla on CBeebies. Substantial positive feedback from parents and children alike led to it being given its own time slot from April 2006. Summerton Mill will be screened daily on CBeebies at 12:50pm for the first two weeks of September, 2006.
